Artist's Bio

Myung-Sun Kim is a Korean-born, Toronto-based artist and an arts educator, primarily working in the field of sculpture, installation and drawing. Her work playfully explores everyday objects and spaces as the raw medium used to create a utopian image of infinite optimism. Her nomadic history and experiences of traveling and residing in various parts of the world since the age of twelve, give her a unique perspective on the world – one that reflects the limitations of reality in various collaged juxtapositions.

She has completed BFA in Sculpture/ Installation at the Ontario College of Art & Design in 2005, and MFA in Visual Arts Program at York University in May 2009. Her awards include Dr.Eugene A. Poggetto Award, MST Bronze Sculpture Award, Sculpture Installation Faculty Award, and Graduate Entrance Scholarship to York University.
